Forming the negative tenses of the desu-masu-tai
The negative non-past and negative past forms of the desu-masu-tai are formed as follows:
Negative non-past:
ます → ません , or masu → masen
Negative Past:
ます → ません＋でした , or masu → masen + deshita
Usage examples:
私はお酒を飲みません。
Watashi wa o-sake of nomimasen.
I don’t drink sake.
